I think that almost everyone can agree that everyone is going through money issues. I mean foreclosures have skyrocketed and real estate has decreased. I just can't understand how some people are losing their homes, facing eviction, can't pay their light or phone bills and yet somehow have money to spend on the latest gadgets. I mean let's be serious. My son isn't old enough to "want" the latest toys or video games. I've seen parents that are so behind on their bills yet their child has a wii. Yeah a wii, and a Nintendo DS, etc. Where are they finding money to buy those things and yet not use it to pay for their necessities.? That sad thing is the effect these folks are causing among other children. "So and so has the latest games so I want one too",.....I don't blame those kids they need to "fit in" with their peers. Where is it raining dollars because I'd sure like to put away the umbrella and get soaked!

If you find out, let me know, I'll put away my umbrella too. None iof my kids ever had Nintendo or Playstation or Reeboks or anything like that, whether to keep up with their peers or not. But they were schooled how to survive without them. Any parent who buys such rubbish for their kids is totally irresponsible. It's no wonder kids go off the rails these days.

Interesting post. As to how these parents, etc. pay for or buy these things is simple. CREDIT CARDS! Yep! They just go out and 'Charge, Charge, Charge!"
That in my own opinion the "Credit Card Companies" should take some of the blame for the parents using these cards to begin with! Why? Well just think about it.... As soon as you turn 18, what is the firt thing to hit your mailbox? Or when you first leave for college?
The answer is.... Offers of Credit!!!!!!!!!
Examples are those "Credit Card Companies" showing up at all kinds of events offering you all kinds of "FREEBIES" just to get you to sign up for their cards! Or leaving for that Senior Trip and right there in the Airport is that Major Airline Carrier offering you their Credit Card with "FREE AIRMILES' just for applying! I mean bless these young peoples' hearts. How can they resist such temptations?
Still though I know it does depend on their credit rating, etc. But if you have never had credit and are "Fresh" out of school you stand a good chance on getting approved.
Okay, I apologize for this being so long of a comment. I do like the beginnings of your blog. Look forward to reading more. Do stop by mine when you find time. And have a blessed day.

I also would like to know where it is raining dollars. But, on the other hand, if I were fortunate enough to find that type of situation I wouldn't be the person I am today. I grew up with 2 working parents who could barely scrape up enough money to pay the bills let alone any "luxuries". Same thing with my husband. When we had kids we both felt that we wanted our kids to have more than we did growing up. As my oldest son became a teenager (he's 18 now) we began to regret our thought process. Let me backtrack a minute. My husband is self employed. He cuts scrap iron for a living so therefore he attends alot of farm auctions so most of the things that our kids have that we never did came from these auctions. But, they had to go to these auctions with us, help do the labor (to their ability) with the scrap iron and fix whatever "luxury" we purchased for them in order to make it useable. They've had a lot of cool things that alot of other kids didn't, but they learned how to work for what they get and valuable skills for the future. Anyway, as my oldest became a teenager, he was acting very spoiled and would get upset whenever he couldn't have something because he thought he should have everything. I was seriously regretting that decision we made when they were little. Now that he is 18 and moved out, he has held down a very good job and is renting to own his own trailer house. I am very proud of him and very glad that when he was growing up that we didn't buy him the newest & latest things that all the other kids had. Otherwise he wouldn't be the young man he is today either.
